Eve of Midnight: Reimagine Calamity - Multi-Archetype Resource Card Definition

What is a Multi-Archetype Resource Card?

A Multi-Archetype Resource Card provides versatile energy usable across multiple archetypes. These resources are rare and powerful, offering flexibility in paying costs, triggering effects, and resolving conditions. Multi-Archetype Resources are essential for decks that blend multiple archetypes or require adaptability.

How to Play a Multi-Archetype Resource Card

  1. Playing a Multi-Archetype Resource:
    • During your Resource Allocation Phase, you may play one Multi-Archetype Resource Card from your hand.
    • Once played, the Multi-Archetype Resource is added to your resource pool and becomes available for use.
  2. Adding to the Resource Pool:
    • Multi-Archetype Resources provide energy for two or more archetypes (e.g., Mythos/Arcane).
    • They are immediately usable during the same turn.

How to Use a Multi-Archetype Resource Card

  1. Channeling:
    • When you use a Multi-Archetype Resource to pay a cost, channel it by flipping the card face-down.
    • Channeled Multi-Archetype Resources are unavailable until refreshed at the start of your next turn.
  2. Paying Dual or Hybrid Costs:
    • Multi-Archetype Resources can fulfill costs requiring either or both of their archetypes.
      • Example: A Mythos/Arcane Resource card can be used as either 1 Mythos Resource or 1 Arcane Resource.
  3. Activating Effects:
    • Many Multi-Archetype Resources have bonus effects when played or channeled, adding strategic depth.
      • Example: “When this card is channeled, refresh one Basic Resource in your pool.”
  4. Meeting Cross-Archetype Conditions:
    • Multi-Archetype Resources are invaluable for resolving conditions that require a mix of archetype-specific resources.
      • Example: “Spend 1 Mythos Resource and 1 Arcane Resource to complete this condition.” A single Mythos/Arcane Resource can fulfill both requirements.

When Are Multi-Archetype Resources Discarded?

Strategic Tips for Using Multi-Archetype Resources

  1. Adaptability:
    • Use Multi-Archetype Resources to fill gaps in your deck’s resource pool, especially in hybrid strategies.
  2. Maximize Versatility:
    • These resources allow you to pivot between archetypes or cover dual requirements, making them essential for flexible gameplay.
  3. Plan Around Rarity:
    • Multi-Archetype Resources are rare. Build your deck with these cards as a supplement, not the foundation.
  4. Trigger Bonus Effects:
    • Take advantage of Multi-Archetype Resources’ bonus effects to gain additional value when playing or channeling them.
  5. Protect Your Key Resources:
    • Multi-Archetype Resources are high-value targets for opponents. Be prepared to mitigate resource destruction or loss.

Simplified Explanation

“Multi-Archetype Resource Cards are rare and versatile. Play one per turn to add it to your resource pool, then channel it to pay hybrid costs, trigger effects, or resolve conditions. Multi-Archetype Resources stay in play and refresh automatically unless discarded or destroyed by special effects.”
